. In addition to her three children, she has four grandchildren. Julie has been fighting to make workplaces fairer, safer, and more equitable for men and women for more than 40 years. Julie was elected Director by the members of the United Auto Workers, Region 9A covering the New England States, a portion of New York and Puerto Rico. Julie was co-chair of the Connecticut Working Families Party, and she served as a delegate or alternate delegate to every Democratic National Convention since 1996. She is a member of the Coalition of Labor Union Women, a member of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, and a lifetime member of the NAACP. Julie is committed to the fight for America’s working people by securing better employee health and safety, public pre-kindergarten, tuition-free college, paid family and medical leave, meaningful investment in local infrastructure, protection of the local environment, and promotion of women’s and family issues. Julie campaigned on a platform of paid family and medical leave, affordable healthcare, and defending a women’s right to choose, and she is passionate on the issues of healthcare, pay equity, and public education. She believes elected officials must always exhibit honesty and integrity, and that her constituents and colleagues must be able to count on her word. She prides herself on her accessibility and her ability to engage in respectful discourse.

What a special evening celebrating Hildi Grob after 14 years as Executive Director of the Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center in Ridgefield. I joined State Senator Ceci Maher and State Rep Savet Constantine and so many friends of the museum to honor everything Hildi has built and accomplished.

The Keeler Tavern is a real institution in our district, and that is not an accident. Hildi brought so much energy, intelligence, and genuine dedication to the mission. She always knew how to get things done, and her enthusiasm for the history and the community the museum serves made it something truly special for Ridgefield and for all of us in the 24th district.

Congratulations to incoming President Tina Malhotra. I know she is going to be wonderful. And to Hildi, thank you for 14 extraordinary years.

Catholic War Veterans Post 1042 honored the flag today, Flag Day with its solemn ceremony to retire the flag that has flown for the past year and post a brand new flag. Every year, people bring their flags to be properly retired by burning them. It’s been my honor to attend every year. Thank to these wonderful veterans who served our country and continue to serve our community.

I’ll be leaving soon to get a good seat at La Mitad Del Mundo on Main Street to watch Ecuador play in the World Cup with the Mayor. I’m guessing a lot of my friends from the Centro Civico Ecuatoriano Danbury will be there! Last night, Mayor Roberto Alves hosted a huge party for the Brazil v. Morocco match!

More about yesterday’s City of Danbury Fire Department awards ceremony. . .

I appreciated the opportunity to sit on stage and shake the hands of friends who have been promoted —Lieutenants, Captains, Deputy Chief and Chief. It’s a privileged to be able to thank them and the probationary firefighters who were recognized yesterday. Of course there were also award and citations. All in all 46 firefighters were recognized. I I’ve worked closely with many members of. Danbury Professional Fire Fighters, Local 801, IAFF. They was their lives to protect our lives and property. It’s critical that we have their back. Thanking them for all they do.
