Mayor Joe Dautermann appointed a 15-member Pool Committee composed of an eightmember citizens group representing the aquatics and business communities, plus a seven-member group of elected officials and staff. The aquatic center design came from
this committeeโs study, listening to the community and traveling to other facilities to evaluate different design approaches. The final design selection
came from the eight-member citizens group, making this project purely a community effort. The Pool Committee chose a design that features a new eight-lane, 50-meter pool leading into a zero-depth fan-shaped area with a plunge pool for the Open Flume Waterslide. Adjacent to that will be a separate pool, receiving people sliding down the Two-Person Raft Slide. Circling this water area is the Lazy River. A new bathhouse opens onto the fan-shaped pool area and a separate Concessions Stand will be located near the bathhouse and can serve both aquatic center patrons and park users.
