$3 million Boys & Girls Club Expansion
Staff Report
HARTFORD, Ky. — The Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club’s Ohio County Unit has launched a $3 million capital campaign to expand its facility and serve more young people throughout the county.
The “Creating Great Futures Capital Campaign” has already received significant state and community support. The organization is more than halfway toward its goal, with approximately $1.4 million remaining to be raised.
The planned project will add approximately 13,000 square feet to the unit’s existing 9,400-square-foot facility. The expansion will include a gymnasium, classrooms, a courtyard, an indoor playground and a rental space that can also serve as a multipurpose room.
Club officials said the additional space will help address an extensive waiting list and allow more children to participate in after-school and summer programs.
The expansion will also strengthen the organization’s programming in academic success, health and well-being, good character and citizenship, and life and workforce readiness.
The Ohio County Unit has operated for five years. Officials said its continued membership growth demonstrates both the trust local families place in the organization and the increasing demand for safe, structured and high-quality programs outside school hours.
“Upon completion of this $3 million capital campaign, our Ohio County Unit of the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club will be able to double its number of club kids,” said Jon Lawson, vice president of the organization’s Board of Trustees. “It is a wonderful challenge and opportunity for our Ohio County community. It’s all about the kids.”
The project will offer naming opportunities at several donor and supporter levels. Opportunities will be available to businesses, companies and families, as well as those wishing to honor or memorialize an individual or family.
Club leaders said contributions of all sizes will help provide Ohio County’s young people with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
