I’m pleased to see that $1 million in state funding was approved for the Wallingford Family YMCA to support the addition of a new aquatics center.

The YMCA is a tremendous asset to our community, and this investment will help expand programs, services, and recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.

I look forward to seeing the positive impact this project will have for Wallingford families and our community.

Today at East Haven Town Beach, I joined the CT Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, along with state and local officials, for a press conference to discuss hurricane preparedness and how residents can stay ready ahead of this year’s storm season.

Our shoreline communities understand firsthand the impact severe storms can have, especially after Tropical Storm Irene devastated areas like Cosey Beach 15 years ago.

Preparation is key. Staying informed, having a plan in place, and preparing early can make all the difference during severe weather events.

Thank you to all of the emergency management officials, first responders, and organizations working every day to help keep our communities safe.

Memorial Day is a time to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives serving our country.

Because of their sacrifice, we are blessed to live in the greatest nation and enjoy the freedoms so many fought to protect.

Today we honor those heroes, remember their sacrifice, and keep their families in our prayers. May God continue to bless the United States of America 🇺🇸

Today is National Senior Fraud Awareness Day.

Earlier this week at the Wallingford Senior Center, I was proud to have the AARP Fraud Watch Network, the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, and the Wallingford, CT Police Department as panelists for an important conversation on protecting seniors and families from scams and financial fraud.

Scammers are constantly evolving, which is why awareness and education are so important. Events like these help residents recognize warning signs, avoid scams, and know where to turn for help.

Consumers can report incidents online to the Department of Consumer Protection at ct.gov/DCP/Complaint (https://portal.ct.gov/dcp/common-elements/common-elements/fraud-and-scams) or by calling 800-842-2649

Tonight I was honored to join legislative colleagues in recognizing the 250th Anniversary of the Wallingford Probate Court.

For generations, the Wallingford Probate Court has served residents during some of life’s most difficult and personal moments with professionalism, compassion, and dedication to our community.

It is incredible to see an institution with such a long history continue to play such an important role for Wallingford families today.

Congratulations on 250 years of service to our community.

Today at the Wallingford Senior Center, I was proud to join AARP Fraud Watch Network, the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, and the Wallingford, CT Police Department for an important conversation on protecting residents, especially seniors, from scams and financial fraud.

Thank you to Deputy Commissioner Jeff Marvin, Officer Henry Cadette, Detective Sean Houlihan, and Kelli Lefler from AARP for sharing valuable information and resources with our community.

Scammers are constantly evolving, and awareness remains one of the strongest tools we have to protect ourselves and our loved ones. Conversations like these are critical to helping residents recognize warning signs, avoid scams, and know where to turn for help.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event possible!

For years, I’ve heard from contractors, apprentices, and businesses across Connecticut about the challenges created by outdated apprentice hiring ratios.

That’s why I worked on legislation to reform the apprentice ratio relief process and help create more opportunities for individuals looking to enter the trades while supporting workforce growth across our state.

This is an important step forward in addressing workforce shortages but there is still more work to be done.

Connecticut needs to continue supporting skilled trades, strengthening our workforce pipeline, and creating opportunities for the next generation entering these careers.
