🌟 Help Wanted! 🌟We need a lead driver for Wednesday deliveries and extra volunteers for Wednesday and Friday this week. Also, a reminder that our furniture and housewares drop-off days this week are Tuesday & Thursday from 12–2 PM at 595 New Park Ave., West Hartford!

Today the team participated in the 27th annual Do It Day by lending a hand to Journey Home and Friends of Goodwin Park.

Journey Home is a vital organization aiding to end homelessness throughout the Greater Hartford area since 2007. Friends of Goodwin Park has been essential to keeping the closest park to Trinity clean and accessible for the community to enjoy for years.

Our friends from the Conard High School Journey Home Club are hosting another Weekend Drop-Off Day this Saturday! 🏡☀️

We seriously love seeing these students continue to show up for our community. They’re giving their time, spreading the word, collecting donations, and this Saturday, you can join them! Help us stock the warehouse with items our clients need as they move into housing.

What we need most right now are small sofas & loveseats, nightstands & end tables, coffee tables, small area rugs, small kitchen tables, armchairs, medium-sized boxes, coffee makers, toasters, pots & pans, shower curtains, and washcloths.

There is no single face of homelessness. Behind every statistic is a person, a family and a story. And often, circumstances, not a lack of effort, are what led them to housing instability.

A moment of appreciation for our fabulous volunteer friends, Sunny and Heather! They bring SO much joy to Journey Home with their positivity, kindness, and genuine care for others. They are consistent, dependable, always excited to volunteer and their good energy is contagious! ☀️

One of their favorite things to do is shop for our clients. They love putting thought into every item they choose and finding pieces that coordinate beautifully, especially when a client isn’t able to shop for themselves. They’re not just picking out furniture and household items, they’re imagining how everything will come together to help make a new home feel welcoming, comfortable, and truly theirs. 🏡❤️

We love having people like Sunny and Heather in our volunteer family! Thank you for making us smile. We’re so grateful for you! 💕

Working alongside people who support you, make you laugh, collaborate with you, and show up every day makes it that much more meaningful. 💛

Meet the THURSDAY CREW! ✨

Week after week, these volunteers show up ready to load, lift, carry, organize, pick up, deliver and basically do whatever needs to be done. Their consistency allows us to schedule, plan and tackle more client deliveries and donor pick ups.

They bring the best energy, always have our clients’ best interests at heart, and have become such an important part of our Journey Home volunteer family.

When housing costs rise faster than wages, a paycheck may not be enough to cover rent, utilities, food, transportation, childcare, and other necessities.

Addressing homelessness requires more than simply connecting someone to a job. It requires access to housing that is affordable, employment opportunities, career development, and the support needed to build long-term stability.

Through workforce development and employment support, Journey Home works alongside community partners to help people experiencing homelessness move toward greater financial stability and housing stability.
