Celebrating 100 years of learning, friendship and school spirit at Bethlehem Elementary School! 🎉

I was delighted to join State Senator Eric Berthel, State Representative Karen Reddington-Hughes and local officials, educators and students to celebrate Bethlehem Elementary School’s 100th anniversary. The students brought the school’s history to life with a “decades parade,” dressing in styles from the 1920s through today. What a fun and creative way to mark this milestone.

Thank you to the teachers, staff and families who have helped make Bethlehem Elementary such a special part of this community for generations. Happy 100th anniversary!

An exciting step forward for The Gilbert School! 🏫🚧

It was a pleasure to help put the first shovels in the ground for the school’s long-awaited bus loop renovation. Projects like this take teamwork and persistence. I’m proud to have played a role along with State Rep. Jay Case in helping bring this one to fruition.

Thank you to the school’s leadership and everyone who worked to get this project to the starting line. I’m glad we could celebrate this milestone together and look forward to seeing the finished bus loop!

🧑🏼‍🌾🌾From local farms to New Milford’s school cafeterias!

It was great to visit New Milford High School today to celebrate CT Grown for CT Kids Week and see how locally grown foods are becoming part of students’ school meals.

School nutrition teams do so much more than serve lunch. They help students discover fresh foods, build healthy eating habits and learn about the farmers who grow their food.

Thank you to New Milford Public Schools’ Student Nutrition Department, students, staff and local agricultural partners for making these connections possible. Supporting Connecticut agriculture and helping our kids thrive go hand in hand!

🌱 Great news for students in New Fairfield, Sherman and New Milford!

I’m pleased to share that three school programs in our district have been awarded $14,093 in total through the Connecticut Department of Agriculture’s CT Grown for CT Kids program.

🍅 New Fairfield High School: $5,000 to expand its farm-to-school program by connecting its greenhouse program with a local farmer and its culinary program, giving students hands-on experience in agriculture and food preparation.

🚜 Sherman School District: $5,000 for an outdoor classroom at Happy Acres Farm, providing every Sherman student with at least two farm visits during the school year to learn about agriculture and how food grows.

🥕 New Milford Public Schools: $4,093 to expand farm-to-school taste tests across the district, introducing more students to fresh, locally grown foods.

Supporting our local farms and creating meaningful learning opportunities for our students go hand in hand. These grants will help children understand where their food comes from while strengthening connections between our schools and the agricultural community.

It was a pleasure to join the BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) team in Canaan to celebrate 65 years of manufacturing excellence, innovation and community partnership!

What began with eight employees in 1961 has grown into a facility employing more than 500 people and producing over 2 billion syringes annually for patients in more than 70 countries. That’s an incredible example of Connecticut craftsmanship making a difference around the world.

From pioneering the disposable plastic syringe to helping meet critical healthcare needs, generations of BD employees have helped make Canaan a vital part of global healthcare.

I’m proud to represent a community where this important work happens every day. Congratulations to the entire BD team and thank you for your continued investment in our workforce, our local economy and the health of our communities!

🐄🍫 A sweet stop in Goshen! I enjoyed visiting Thorncrest Farm & Milk House Chocolates and meeting owners Kimberly and Clint for a tour of their farm and business.

They use milk from their own cows to create their chocolates, bringing together local agriculture, craftsmanship and small business in a very special way.

As Goshen’s only remaining dairy farm, Thorncrest also reminds us why preserving farmland and open space matters. Protecting our agricultural heritage and keeping decisions about our towns’ futures in local hands helps preserve the character of the communities we call home.

Thank you, Kimberly and Clint, for welcoming me and for your dedication to keeping agriculture thriving in Goshen!

🌳Good news for our district! More than $1 million in state grants is coming our way from the CT Recreational Trails Grant Program. Recreational trails are a big part of what makes this corner of Connecticut such a great place to live and visit. I’m happy to support this funding and to see these projects moving forward.
