Our clients who had great births understood this👇👇👇
They knew how to work WITH their body’s natural dance of hormones for a smooth labor, not against it.
Did you know that your body is designed to give birth when your parasympathetic nervous system is in charge, ie: not in fight or flight mode? YEP! And when your body is in fight or flight, it becomes HARDER to produce the oxytocin your body needs to cause uterine contractions, and beta-endorphins to relieve pain.
Feeling fear, being interrupted, feeling watched, bright lights and a sterile environment can all be triggers for our fight or flight to take over. Which means learning how to minimize those triggers is your key to a better birth.
On the flip side, feeling deeply safe, connecting with your support people in loving and affectionate ways, and a quiet, dark, soothing environment, are the keys to keeping your nervous system in the optimal zone for birth.
So, when you are preparing for your birth, the best thing you can do is prepare your body and mind to stay relaxed through the intensity, and prepare everything else within your control (like your labor environment, sounds, scents, people in the room, and ESPECIALLY your understanding of your provider’s routine care) to PROMOTE calm, not work against it.
Is this all brand new to you or do you want to learn more? Our childbirth class is 12 hours of rich content explaining EXACTLY how to prepare for this. Go a step further and hire a doula to personally walk with you through this kind of prep, and then help make this environment possible on game day— no matter where you’re giving birth. This is our bread and butter and it literally makes us so excited to think we could help you with it.
