đź’ś International Overdose Awareness Day | August 31

Today, we remember the lives lost to overdose, support those who are struggling, and remind our community that overdose deaths are preventable.

Narcan (naloxone) can save a life. Having Narcan on hand means you can act quickly when every second matters. You don't have to be a healthcare professional to carry or administer it—and everyone should consider keeping Narcan available at home, in their car, or wherever they spend time.

The Mercer County Health Department has Narcan available for community members. Stop by and get yours so you're prepared to help if an overdose happens.

đź’ś Carry Narcan. Know how to use it. Be ready to save a life.

Because you never know when being prepared could mean the difference between life and death.

Kentucky health officials have confirmed an ongoing outbreak of measles in Kentucky. As of Aug. 17, 2026, there are confirmed cases in Christian, Todd, Trigg, and Washington Counties. This includes two people who have been hospitalized with measles.
The Kentucky Department for Public Health and local health departments are also investigating reports of measles in other counties.
The Kentucky Department for Public Health publishes updated county case counts each morning, Monday through Friday, at www.chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dph/dehp/idb/Pages/measles.aspx.
Vaccination is the best protection from measles. The measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is safe, effective, and widely available in Kentucky. To get the MMR vaccine, contact your doctor or other health care provider, or your local health department.
