there are several notices posted at Sturgeon Point as to when someone will be there. This was put up by the current president of the Alcona Historical Society. This page was started by the previous Manager of Sturgeon Point.

The President has decided to only have the Lighthouse and School open on certain days. He will have signs posted at different places to give information on . The prior crew at Sturgeon Point and Old Baily School will sinceerely miss talking with the visitors. Everyone enjoy the new program at Sturgeon Point.

The rescue boat that was at the edge of the tower has been placed in a cradle at it's new site next to the Bernice D. also the new extension to the parking lot is done and we are officially closed for the 2016 season.Thanks to everyone for your support from the crew at Sturgeon Point

The inquiry for a price range is left blank because there is no charge to visit the lighthouse or school or gift shop or the grounds.
Because of the insurance requirement for the tower we charge
$3.00 per person to climb the steps to the top. Must be 48 inches tall and proper shoes. There are 84 steps to climb in a circle of 8
feet. The tower is 16 feet at the bottom and tapers to 10 feet at the top. Hope this answers your request.

Getting ready for the opening the last of this month.
Some of the displays have been moved and some of the rooms in the museum have been painted. The water is real high now so the point is real short. But the petoskey stones are still around. Hope we have a lot of visitors. The gift shop has lots of new items!!!
