Heading to the beach or exploring the area this week? Please keep these crucial tips from a wildlife professional in mind to protect our local animals, especially our turtles:

• Feeding wildlife can put them at risk.
• When turtles associate humans with food, they begin to lose their natural fear of people and can start exhibiting behaviors that can lead to conflicts, like approaching swimmers and boaters.
• Human food is also not healthy for wildlife. These turtles have plenty of natural food to eat, and wild food is what's best for them!

Whether you are a resident away for a few months, or until next summer, we have the watch! Our Vacant House Check service is available for long-term seasonal absences, as well as shorter periods of time away. You can customize your security level to choose whether our officers perform routine drive-by checks or physically step out to walk the exterior perimeter of your home. How to set up your long-term watch:

The Harrisville Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the family of local resident Earl Nelson. His leadership in law enforcement spanned many decades, leaving a lasting impact on several local and state agencies.
