Training is a critical part of the Harrisonville Fire Department’s mission.

As part of Your City, Our Mission, we’re highlighting the work that happens before an emergency call ever comes in. Our firefighters train regularly to stay prepared, sharpen their skills, and respond safely and effectively when our community needs them most.

Harrisonville’s Fire Department responds to approximately three times the national average number of calls, making preparation even more important. From emergency response techniques to equipment readiness and ongoing professional development, training helps ensure our team is ready for the wide range of situations they may face.

When the call comes in, preparation matters. And in Harrisonville, our Fire Department is committed to being ready.

To kick off Your City, Our Mission, the City of Harrisonville is taking an inside look at the Harrisonville Fire Department.

We recently sat down with Fire Chief Rusty Sullivan, who has dedicated 42 years of service to the fire service industry.

While emergency response is a critical part of the Fire Department’s mission, their work extends far beyond answering calls. The department is also responsible for maintaining equipment standards, supporting fire prevention efforts, and conducting more than 800 business inspections each year to help keep Harrisonville safe.

Stay tuned as we continue highlighting the people, services, and responsibilities that help our city operate every day.
