The Kids Castle Playground at Purcell Park will be closed all day Monday for adjustments and repairs from the first two weeks of usage. Playground specialists will be working on the slides and some other odds and ends that need adjustments. We expect this work to last no longer than through the day on Tuesday. We will make an announcement as soon as the playground is back open to the public. We would like to say thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding.

We’re excited to welcome everyone back for the September Canteen!

Area adults ages 16 and older with intellectual disabilities are invited to join us at the Community Activities Center on Friday, September 11, from 7:00pm–8:30pm for an evening of dancing, soda floats, crafts, and socializing.

Through daily staff review and feedback from families, we have identified an issue that requires the temporary closure of the large slide and upper levels of the castle tower at Kids Castle at Purcell Park.

Some bolts were not properly installed, leaving edges exposed that have caused cuts and scrapes to some children. While these bolts are not integral to the playground's structural integrity, we take this issue seriously.
We hold our playgrounds to the highest standards, and we are sorry for these negative experiences.

The rest of the playground remains open, and we hope to have the slide fixed and reopened soon. Meanwhile, we will continue to review the playground daily to determine if any additional adjustments are needed.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

The Sprayground's last day for the season is Labor Day, Monday, September 7!
Beginning Wednesday, September 9, the pool will be open for recreation swim during the following hours:
• Wednesdays: 9:00am–12:00pm
• Saturdays: 12:00pm–5:00pm

It's Kids Castle Eve!! We are so excited to open this playground for you tomorrow.

If you're joining us for the Kids Castle Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony tomorrow (9/1) at 10:00am, please first check for parking at the Harrisonburg Parks & Rec parking lot located behind Funky’s Skate Center. Space will be limited in the parking lots along Monument Avenue during this event.

Please use the address 100 Miller Cir, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 and then follow signs to the Purcell parking lot.
