Five new members of the Harrisonburg Fire Department’s EMS Bike Team recently completed their bike team training!

Training focused on the role of the EMS Bike Team, safe bicycle operations, and navigating crowds and congested areas during special events. Our Bike Team helps EMS providers quickly reach patients in areas where traditional emergency vehicles may have limited access—while also providing another opportunity to engage with our community.

School is Back tomorrow!

This means more school buses, more children walking and biking. Plan ahead, leave early if necessary, slow down and pay attention.

🚍 Stop for school buses when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
🚗 Watch for children near bus stops, crosswalks, and school zones.
⚠️ Slow down and be prepared for unexpected stops.
📵 Avoid distractions and keep your eyes on the road.
⏰ Give yourself extra time for increased traffic around schools and buses.

Harrisonburg Fire Department’s new Tower 1 has arrived and is officially in service!!!

After crews outfitted the unit with equipment and all drivers and operators completed training, Tower 1 is ready to support the Harrisonburg community!

Join us on August 22nd for a little friendly competition between our public safety partners!

HPD and HFD will be playing each other in a softball game at JMU’s Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park at 6 pm. This is sure to be a great time for our players and spectators as a “battle of the badges” takes place. Smiley’s Ice cream will be available for purchase, and this is an event you do not want to miss!
