The Lions Club has served Harrison since 1951 to help the visually impaired & residents in need of sight related services. "When you see someone in distress, your first impulse is to help. When you see a community in need, you want to do something. The question is how to translate that generous spirit into action? The answer is: VOLUNTEER!!"
The Harrison Lions Club has served the community since
1951 and is a part of Lions International, the world's largest service organization which consists of more than one million members and is in 191 countries around the world. Our primary focus is the blind and visually impaired. We provide eye glasses and eye exams to the less fortunate in our community and donate to various organizations for the blind and visually impaired. What we do is possible through the efforts of our members who hold fund-raisers to support our projects. Each year money is raised which is given out in the form of donations to various organizations and causes such as the following:
Camp Fatima
Came Marcella
Local Churches
NJ Eye Institute
Pathyways to Independence
St.John's/Feed the Hungry
St. Joseph's School for the Blind
We meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Elks or on Zoom and welcome new members. LIONS CLUB PRAYER
Almighty God, whose great commandment is that we shall love our neighbor as ourselves, and who has taught us that we should do to others as we would have them do to us. We ask thy blessing upon the work of this Lions Club, as our purpose is to help our fellow man and to promote all that is good in the life of our community. We pray that thou will strengthen our hands in all our undertakings, and that our work and thy spirit may bring goodwill to all people everywhere. Amen
