Today's Q&A...those school year 2025-2026 3rd graders were in their third year of Science of Reading resources, and their second year of hands-on, inquiry-based math resources. Same for all other students, and it is great to see how high-quality resources in the hands of highly-effective teachers builds a solid foundation over time. Our goal, of course, is to continue to move students from the blue to the green. This year, our K-5 teachers are implementing a "gold standard" literacy framework to support that work. They are also in the process of developing a similar framework for math.

Interestingly, today's question comes from someone all the way in Seattle. The way the state requires us to code our general fund expenditures not only requires clicks on our posted transparency documents but also a review of the Michigan Public School Accounting Manual, so it can get a bit wonky. But, it does allow for direct comparisons across districts. Anyway, you can see for yourself on this graphic what comprises each component, and the percentage of the 27% each component represents.

Families,

Due to a semi truck striking an electrical pole in town, the middle and high schools are currently without power. Larson had its lights flicker but is fine. There was no disruption at Early Childood.

Thanks to the quick action of our Chartwells partners, we will still be able to provide lunch to all 6-12 students.

As crews work to restore power, our teachers will keep teaching. Please note that until power is restored, you will not be able to call either school, nor will they be able to receive emails.
