Here we go again. If anyone knows me, I will hit something head on. I haven't seen the paper this morning but word has it I got slammed. It's so sad that we have such biased people that feel they have to tear someone down. I will now verbatim tell you what my response to James White was. "This is in response to the questionnaire you sent me Tuesday, October 11, 2022. I have been a private citizen for the past 4 years but these questions pertain to 8 years ago when I was elected and served 3 terms as the Boone County Circuit Clerk. When I stopped by your office to pick up what questions you were going to ask the other opponent, I was told no twice. Your questionnaire included questions of findings in Legislative Audits. When I was notified of any findings concerning a Legislative Audit, which findings are observations and an opportunity for improvement, I immediately took action to correct them. As far as income not receipts as required by ACA 14-25-116, and ACA 14-25-108, it was receipt ed but the receipts needed to be numbered. It was corrected. On your questionnaire you mentioned ACA 12-25-116 but I couldn't find that number anywhere. All findings were resolved and the Legislative Audit was pleased. I assure you everything in the findings were corrected. These fings and other findings on elected officials are public information. Citizens can log on to the Legislative Audit page and view findings for elected county officials and I encourage them to do so. As far as city administration, I will address the issue if needed. As far as any changes proposed, I am looking forward to working with the employees, listening to the citizens, working with businesses and making any changes for the future growth and well-being of the City of Harrison. As far as the ordinance for the fire and police, I think it was needed and the voters voiced their opinion. Will I ever want to look at it, I'm sure I will at some time but I plan on looking at other ordinances and paperwork also." I am sorry this is so long but I hope you citizens read this. If anyone has any questions feel free to reach out to me. I will continue to run a clean campaign. Thank you and I would appreciate your continued support.

Ok, I just got word that at the committee meeting at the city, that I didn't want to give city employees a raise. That is wrong! Absolutely they should get a raise. I worked for the city for over 24 years, it has always been a problem. I want to make sure they continue to get raises. Never did I say the employees didn't need raises. I just wanted to clear that up. I am always a phone call away. Thank you!

Watkins says the city tried to hide the vote, Jackson says they did all they could to inform the public.

I would like to introduce myself to those who don’t know me. I am Retired Boone County Circuit Clerk, Rhonda Watkins, announcing my candidacy for Mayor of Harrison. “I am very passionate about our city. I have lived here for over 60 years and have seen a lot of changes. I graduated from the old High School that is being replaced on Pine St. and I’m a proud member of the Old Time Goblins. With 5 generations currently residing in Harrison and surrounding areas, I would like to explore more and different options and activities for generations of all ages.” Having previously worked for the city for over 24 years in accounting and serving 3 terms as the elected Circuit Clerk, I am experienced with numbers and budgets as well as serving the public on a daily basis. I have been in the past and I’m currently involved in many organizations, serving on boards and volunteering in multiple capacities. I’m looking forward to listening to our citizens and hearing their wants and needs and doing what is best to grow our economy. The city seems to be in good financial shape due to the citizens paying taxes and they should be commended for it. If elected I will work for the citizens, listen to the citizens and work with businesses and organizations for the improvement of our city. I would appreciate your vote in the general election.
