Now hiring Building Custodians and Grounds Maintenance to join our team! Positions will work directly in the Maintenance Department. These positions are tasked with ensuring that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in safe and clean conditions. Essential job functions include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal from buildings. Duties can also include mowing, weed-eating, edging, other upkeep of county owned grounds, and other duties as assigned.

🚨 Reminder for tomorrow, Saturday, May 16!

The Boone County Spring Cleanup will be from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16th, 2025, at GFL Environmental (previously LRS). This Community Service is staffed by the Boone County Road Department. If there are any questions, please call Road Supervisor James Still at (870) 391-9809 or the Boone County Road Department at (870) 741-8611.

*ALL PERSONS MUST REMAIN IN VEHICLE UNLESS WEARING A HARD HAT AND REFLECTIVE VEST*

Please review the list provided of items that are accepted and those that will not be accepted. County residents already have the option of disposing of most items we do not take through various businesses in the area. TRG and Myers Metal accept old refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, etc. (As long as the freon is properly removed and they are tagged). Hazardous household materials and yard waste should be taken to GFL located at 1313 Old Bellefonte Rd (on a different date than this event).

Items that WILL BE ACCEPTED:
*TV’s and Computer Monitors will be a charge of $10.00 each
*Electronics (Modems, Laptops, Microwaves, Cell Phones, and Other Electronics);
*Junk Iron (Washers, Dryers, Wood Stoves, Scrap Metal, Etc.);
*Furniture, Mattresses, and Carpet;
*Tires, NO MORE THAN 10, NO Tractor or Industrial Type Tires (Must be off the rims)

Items that WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED include:
*Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioners, Dehumidifiers, Etc.;
*Hazardous Household Materials (Batteries, Fluorescent Light Bulbs, Chemicals, Paint, Etc.);
*Yard Waste;
*Construction Debris;
*Ordinary Trash, or anything not listed above.

The Boone County Quorum Court will meet on April 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Boone County Office of Emergency Management Building, 400 E. Prospect Ave, Harrison, Arkansas, to consider the Resolution below to declare a vacancy in the office of Boone County Judge, effective March 10, 2026, and to fill the vacancy for the unexpired term.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Boone County Quorum Court to Consider Declaration of Vacancy and Appointment for County Judge Position.

BOONE COUNTY, AR — The Boone County Quorum Court will convene a special meeting on April 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Boone County Office of Emergency Management Building, 400 E. Prospect Ave., Harrison, Arkansas, to address a vacancy in the office of Boone County Judge.

During the meeting, the Quorum Court will consider a Resolution to formally declare a vacancy following the resignation of County Judge Robert Hathaway. The Court will also consider appointing an individual to fill the position for the remainder of the unexpired term, which runs through December 31, 2026.

In accordance with Arkansas law, the Quorum Court is responsible for both declaring the vacancy and appointing a qualified individual to serve in this role.

Individuals interested in being considered for appointment are invited to submit a resume and/or letter of qualifications and interest to the Boone County Judge’s Office, located at 100 N. Main Street, Suite 300, Harrison, AR 72601. The deadline for submissions is 4:30 p.m. on April 1, 2026.

The April 9th meeting will be open to the public. For additional information, individuals may contact the Boone County Judge’s Office at 870-741-5760.
