A Platoon hosted a gathering to celebrate the retirement of Tower 1 driver John Matson badge #56 after 20 years of service to the City of Harrisburg. A Platoon also honored Lt. Matt K***z badge #403 on his future retirement after 23 years of service to the City of Harrisburg. Congratulations to you both, well done!

Chief 7 (Bastinelli) striking the 1st Alarm on box 1-2 in the 1700 block of State Street. This is 1 block from station 2. Chief 7 arrived with a 3 story ordinary with fire showing from the first floor and people still in the building. All city companies are working with mutual aid from Tower 32, Cumberland Air 13 and. York Rescue 69.

Mutual Aid Fire

Tower 1 worked as first due special service on a house fire in the 5200 Block of Laurel Lane in Lower Paxton Township. County units had a quick knock on the fire. Wagon 4 was dispatched as a replacement unit and was returned shortly after as control was marked and units were held. The β€œB” Platoon at work.

House fire Box 1-3

The box was sent to Jefferson Street for a fire. Harrisburg Bureau of Fire Station 1 "The Uptown" units arrived to find smoke showing from the first floor of a long row of 3 and 2 story homes. The fire was in the kitchen of the home, with one line placed in service the fire was quickly controlled. Crews opened up the walls and found no extension. Captain 2 with the command. The β€œC” Platoon at work.

Chief 7(Bastinelli) striking the 1st alarm in the 200 block of N 14th St on Box 1-2. City units have fire on multiple floors. All hands are working. Recall has been initiated. This fire is 2 blocks behind station 2. The D Platoon working.

Update: πŸ”” πŸ”” 2nd Alarm. Chief 1 requesting command strike the 2nd due to the fire running laterally in the cocklift. Fire is running the row.

This Friday, March 20th will be the last working day for the HFD's senior man, Ron Gallatin, Jr. (Inspector G) after 36 years of service. Family, friends, and HFD members (retired and active) are invited for a time of fellowship and light refreshments at Station 1 this Friday, from 1600-1800 hrs. We hope to see you there!
