VFW Auxiliary - Department of Pennsylvania

VFW Auxiliary - Department of Pennsylvania We assist veterans and their families.

The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest veterans’ service organizations and
our members are the relatives of those who have served in overseas combat. We
have nearly 465,000 members nationwide who volunteer millions of hours and
fundraise millions of dollars for charitable projects that benefit veterans, military
service personnel, and their families. Through our National Programs, we assi

st the VFW pass or block legislation that
impacts veterans and their families, provide nearly a million volunteer hours in
the VA medical system, conduct patriotic programs with thousands of students
and offer hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships for our nation’s youth. With more than 4,000 Auxiliaries, there is likely one in your area working to
improve the lives of America’s uncommon heroes.

National Convention Patriotic Rally in Reno, Nevada, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The Commander-in-Chief, Carol Whitmore, has scheduled a crowd karaoke event for all attendees to sing along with her to celebrate 126 years of the VFW and 250 Years of the United States of America.

There is also a costume contest in three areas: Best Dressed Patriotic Group, Best decorated Scooter, and a Veteran & Spouse/Partner award. You still have plenty of time to shop for or order online for your costume and decorations. Let's see what Pennsylvania can do!

Important information regarding the Buddy Poppy display contest (the updated rules will be published on vfwauxpa.org under the Buddy Poppy Program):

"It has been brought to my attention that some VFW posts/auxiliaries are ordering poppies from other vendors to bypass the VFW Store and then using those poppies for the display contest. While the rules do not explicitly prohibit this, it is not allowed. The VFW Buddy Poppy Display Contest is intended to showcase the creativity and dedication of VFW Posts while reinforcing the integrity and purpose of the Buddy Poppy program. The contest is designed to promote respect for the symbolic meaning of the Buddy Poppy, support uniform fundraising standards, and ensure fairness by requiring that all poppies used in displays be officially obtained through the VFW Store. This preserves the credibility of the program and ensures that proceeds directly benefit veterans, service members, and their families.

As a result, I am revising the display contest rules to address this issue. I wanted to make you aware of what is happening across the organization, so you are informed and be on the lookout yourself as we are moving into convention season."
