In 2024, HHS formally recommended that the DEA reclassify ma*****na. Eighteen months later, it remains a Schedule I controlled substance, and medical ma*****na patients continue to face arrest based on trace amounts in their blood. As we enter the new year, we can only hope that meaningful reform finally follows the science.
