Yesterday marked the kickoff of Sickle Cell Awareness Month! ❤️

The South Central Pennsylvania Sickle Cell Council started the month at the Harrisburg Senators game with Sickle Cell Day. We were proud to support our warriors by providing them with free tickets so they could enjoy the game with their families.

“Tionne recently experienced a sickle cell crisis that required hospitalization, and she is currently recovering and regaining her strength,” TLC rep Christal Jordan told USA Today on Wednesday, September 2.

“Hearing audiences sing her parts, lift her up in prayer, and surround TLC with so much love has meant more than we can express,” Jordan said. “Sickle cell is a serious illness, so we ask everyone to please keep the prayers coming as Tionne continues to recover. We are immensely grateful for the love and support." 🙏🏾❤️‍🩹

Today was amazing and, at one point, it brought tears to my eyes.

We will have a representative flying in from Chicago to discuss gene therapy for sickle cell disease and provide important educational information that could impact our community.

In addition, we’ll have a nurse practitioner from Penn State Health speaking, along with other impactful guest speakers sharing information on mental health, donor awareness, and personal experiences.

* A free buffet meal will also be provided for all attendees.*
