Pennsylvania House Bill 2488 has been introduced in the General Assembly to modernize the state’s Local Tax Enabling Act and provide municipalities with additional options to address fiscal challenges and fund essential local services.

The bill would update the Local Services Tax (LST) and could help reduce reliance on property tax increases. Importantly, if passed, adoption of any new taxing authority would be optional for municipalities, not mandatory.

HB 2488 is currently under consideration in the Pennsylvania House. PSATC encourages our members to check this bill out and share your feedback with your local house member.
