Mark Colvin, 78, an artist from Allegheny County submitted his t photo titled “Carousel” to the Older Artists of PA Showcase in the Artist Living with Dementia category.

“I took up photography when I retired and have enjoyed taking photographs on many international trips. I am drawn to scenes that I think will create black and white images. A few years ago, I received a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. Fortunately, I have been able to continue limited travel and continue to love photography.”

PA Senior Community Centers are about more than socialization and lunch; they provide essential links for older adults to get connected to what they need to age in communities across PA.

Secretary Kavulich attended the Pennsylvania Association Of Senior Centers (PASC) annual conference where he heard, firsthand, the needs of Pennsylvania’s senior centers.

Strong centers are at the core of age friendly communities everywhere.

The Department now monitors how well a local aging agency is delivering its services through a new tool that is far superior than the inadequate legacy system – because it reveals explicit steps for improvement.

In the past, agencies were only provided a pass/fail grade with no conversation or roadmap for improvement. That new tool, CAPE, is improving services and protections for older adults, everyday.
