Northcentral Region WCO Derek Norman, whose district includes Clinton and western Lycoming counties, was recently presented with the Gerald L. Greiner Environmental Protection Award for exemplifying the protection, conservation and enhancement of the Commonwealth's aquatic resources.

In 2025, Norman investigated nine environmental incidents within his region resulting in significant settlements that will benefit local aquatic resources.

WCO Luke Walter has been named the NASBLA Boating Officer of the Year!

Walter, whose district includes western Erie County, performed 47 days of boat patrols and conducted over 350 boat boardings in an effort to promote compliance with safety regulations.

Walter also participated in Operation Stonegarden, a U.S. Border Patrol program aimed towards enhancing maritime and shoreline patrols along Lake Erie. Walters conducted targeted patrols within Presque Isle Bay and PFBC's Walnut Creek Access.

The Officers of the PA Fish & Boat Commission Bureau of Law Enforcement, send our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Trooper Michael E. Pahira JR who lost his life in the line of duty.

The Department is deeply saddened to announce the loss of a dedicated member of our ranks, Trooper Michael E. Pahira, Jr. He was assigned as a Motor Carrier Inspector at PSP Frackville and was killed in the line of duty on July 1. Read more at bit.ly/PSP-MEP26.

Fish Warden Schoemaker was killed by gunfire while attempting to affect an arrest of a poaching suspect in Bradford County.

Deputy Fish Warden Allan LeRoy Woolf
EOW: 06/05/1955
Deputy Fish Warden Woolf suffered a medical emergency while patrolling for illegal fishing along the Delaware River in Bucks County.

Fish Warden Raymond Schroll
EOW: 04/04/1958
Fish Warden Schroll drowned while attempting to rescue a Pennsylvania Game Commission Officer who was on boat patrol with him when their vessel capsized in Lycoming County.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Bureau of Law Enforcement would like to recognize their sacrifice on this Law Enforcement Memorial Day.
All three officers heroically gave their lives while in the performance of their duty in service to the Commonwealth.

Recently, Officers from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC), Bureau of Law Enforcement Southwest Region were honored to participate in the Trooper Kenton Iwaniec Memorial Fondation’s Recent “TakeOff Race” Awards Ceremony at Saint Vincent College, Latrobe, PA.
The Mission of the Trooper Iwaniec Memorial Fondation is to raise awareness of the seriousness of Driving Under the Influence. Part of this includes donating Preliminary Breath Testing devices to Law Enforcement in order to give them the tools they need to help get impaired drivers off the road, and in the case of the PFBC, getting impaired operators off the water.
We are incredible appreciative of the work the Foundation does. The Foundation presented the PFBC with 6 new PBT’s. (Pictured from left to right: WCO Mike Johnson, Sgt Dan Wilson, Capt. John Hopkins, WCO Jon Stark & WCO Kyle Wirick).
