This year's Maternal Health Awareness Day theme is Holding Ground for Maternal Health. And with federal investments in maternal health waning, we know that we need to hold our ground on maternal healthcare now more than ever.

Despite the fact that the vast majority of deaths during and after pregnancy are preventable, the maternal mortality and morbidity rates here in the United States are some of the highest among developed countries. We must continue the fight to save the lives of those who are pregnant and postpartum.

We will always be committed to advocating for policies that will improve the health of mothers across the Commonwealth!

Last week, our co-chairs were honored to attend the Maternal & Family Health Services annual luncheon and receive their Outstanding Public Service Award!

Maternal and Family Health Services provides lifesaving healthcare and other essential services to mothers and families across Northeast PA. We are so grateful for all the good work they do for communities in the region and across our Commonwealth.

We are so proud to work with amazing community partners like MFHS! 💛

Menopause is a natural stage of life that impacts every woman, yet stigma, confusion, and a lack of resources too often leave women navigating this transition alone. By bringing together women, experts, and community leaders, this event will:

✅ Normalize dialogue around women’s health
✅ Offer practical strategies to advocate for care
✅ Foster connection, empowerment, and support

Happy Juneteenth!

Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure that all 250,000 of the state's enslaved people were freed according to federal law. This was over two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

We know that not everybody was free on July 4, 1776. Today, we celebrate true freedom and emancipation.💛

Yesterday, the PA House passed HB 1140, Rep. Leanne Krueger's bill to expand access to contraception.

Our caucus applauds the passage of this bill and is ready to fight for it's consideration in the Senate!
