Happy !

This year's Maternal Health Awareness Day theme is Holding Ground for Maternal Health. And with federal investments in maternal health waning, we know that we need to hold our ground on maternal healthcare now more than ever.

Despite the fact that the vast majority of deaths during and after pregnancy are preventable, the maternal mortality and morbidity rates here in the United States are some of the highest among developed countries. We must continue the fight to save the lives of those who are pregnant and postpartum.

We will always be committed to advocating for policies that will improve the health of mothers across the Commonwealth!

Coming up next week!

The Governor’s Advisory Commission on Women is proud to host an important menopause conversation on October 22 in Harrisburg with nationally recognized expert and author of Grown Woman Talk, Dr. Sharon Malone.

Menopause is a natural stage of life that impacts every woman, yet stigma, confusion, and a lack of resources too often leave women navigating this transition alone. By bringing together women, experts, and community leaders, this event will:

âś… Provide evidence-based guidance from a trusted expert
✅ Normalize dialogue around women’s health
âś… Offer practical strategies to advocate for care
âś… Foster connection, empowerment, and support

This is more than an educational session - it’s an opportunity to advance women’s health equity and ensure every woman feels informed, supported, and celebrated.

Every year, over 720,000 people lose their lives to su***de. In the United States, someone dies from su***de every 11 minutes.

It's time to change the narrative on su***de. When we challenge harmful myths, fight stigma, and make space for open and compassionate conversations about mental health, we can create a world without su***de.

If you're struggling with your mental health or having thoughts of su***de, please know that you are not alone. Help is always available by calling or texting the National Su***de and Crisis Hotline at 988.

Happy Juneteenth!

Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure that all 250,000 of the state's enslaved people were freed according to federal law. This was over two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

We know that not everybody was free on July 4, 1776. Today, we celebrate true freedom and emancipation.đź’›
