We’ve released a study that provides transparency about how pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) are operating in Pennsylvania.

PBMs are the “middlemen” of the pharmaceutical supply chain. Despite their role and influence in our healthcare system, many Pennsylvanians are unaware of their existence.

In July 2024, Governor Shapiro signed Act 77, the Pharmacy Benefit Reform Act. This state law expanded PID’s authority over PBMs to increase fairness and transparency of prescription drug coverage in fully-insured plans.
