Common Cause Pennsylvania (CC/PA) works on a number of reform issues, including (but not limited to):

Elections Reform
Elections are the principal method by which citizens hold public officials accountable for their actions. CC/PA advocates for campaign finance reform as well as expanding the Commonwealth's voting options through online voter registration, no-fault absentee voting, early voting, and same day registration. Lobbyist Disclosure
For years, Pennsylvania was ridiculed for having the weakest lobbyist disclosure law in the nation. Responding to a CC/PA led effort, the General Assembly finally passed a meaningful lobbyist disclosure law in 1998 that mirrored those of many other states. Open Government
Access to government records and meetings are essential to our democracy. CC/PA has been an active leader in revising PA's Open Records Law and the Sunshine Law. Legislative Reform
As we work closely with government officials to keep government open and accountable, we are always working hard to promote legislative reforms that make sense for Pennsylvanians such as budget reform, reduction in the size of the legislature, redistricting, and initiative & referendum powers for citizens. Local Government Reform
On the local government level, CC/PA is studying ways to reduce inefficiencies, redundancies, and waste that are caused by overlapping or multiple layers of local government. Judicial Selection
Pennsylvania's current system for electing judges has resulted in voters being asked to chose from a group of candidates about which they have little or no information, and virtually no way of obtaining needed information. CC/PA advocates for merit-based judicial selection as well as contribution limits for judicial candidates.

Win for Allegheny County Voters! Today, the county took the right step by voting for additional ballot return sites. As we commented at today's Allegheny County Board of Election meeting: “Given voters' growing use of mail-in ballots, options to return those ballots should grow as well."

The county elections division will offer five satellite locations and 12 ballot return sites in the weeks before the November election.

PA Voters deserve to know who's money is trying to influence our elections, and those who can't follow the rules should face penalties and stop getting involved in our elections. This is part of what makes our elections secure. It's always those who lie the most who end up being the problem themselves!

Thrilled to see Montgomery County, PA taking steps to help mail voters successfully cast their vote! Well done!

Eligible voters should not be disenfranchised because of a small mistake that can be easily fixed.

Today we voted to automatically send a replacement ballot to voters whose ballots are rejected over a missing signature, missing secrecy envelope, or damage.

Eligible voters deserve an election process that is accessible, fair, and responsive and we’ll continue looking for practical ways to strengthen that process.
