Members of the SEPA Delegation joined members of the Philly Delegation for a PA House Democratic Policy Committee hearing with PECO in the wake of the rate case withdraw and to find out how we can address the issue of electric affordability.

Neighbors in SEPA and Philly are reeling from the high cost of power and we are seeking realistic and immediate solutions.

The SEPA Delegation echos our colleague Rep. Carol Kazeem in thanking the residents of the collar counties who signed our petitions and reached out to share concerns regarding the proposed PECO rate hike. The delegation members from Bucks, Chester, Delco, and MontCo elevated your voices and PECO heard us.

Thank you PECO for putting customers first and we realize there are still issues to resolve regarding supply and demand. We look forward to finding solutions to ensure safe delivery of affordable power for our communities.

When we come together, we are POWERFUL! Thank you for speaking up: our protest of PECO’s attempted rate gouging has saved PA consumers $510 Million on utility bills! I am going to keep fighting for affordable and essential services for all Pennsylvanians.

It was a busy session week for the SEPA delegation members in Harrisburg! One of the biggest celebrations was hosted by the delegation's own Rep. Gina H. Curry, Co-Chair of the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus in celebration of Black Maternal Health Week.

SEPA colleagues support creating a safe and supportive environment for black and brown mothers and families to realize the miracle of birth. The rate of maternal and infant mortality in our black and brown communities is a pressing issue and this week helped to raise awareness and bring together advocates and legislators to find real and lasting solutions.

The SEPA Delegation has formally notified the PUC of its opposition to PECO's rate increase. The below letter has been sent to Chairman DeFrank for consideration.

We do not support allowing the residential and business customers of the collar counties to foot the bill of for-profit large load users. This will represent a significant hardship for many and would represent PECOs third rate hike since 2022. It is time to put the needs of the community first.

Join SEPA delegation members in telling PECO and the PUC “no” to outrageous rate hikes. Rep. Napoleon Nelson and the rest of the delegation are sharing the link so you can make your voice heard!

PECO wants to raise your electric and gas bills.

At a time when families are already struggling with everyday costs, this proposal would add even more pressure on household budgets. That’s why I joined my colleagues in opposing it.

If this would impact you, speak up. Submit a comment to the PUC and make your voice heard.

The SEPA Delegation has come out in strong opposition to PECO’s recently announced plans to seek significant rate increases.

Bucks County’s Rep. Jim Prokopiak shares “At a time when working families are already struggling to afford groceries, rent, and everyday essentials, PECO has proposed steep increases to electric and natural gas rates — raising electric bills by 12.5% and gas bills by 11.4%.

Families in my community and many across Pennsylvania will be hurt deeply, should this proposal be accepted. PECO’s actions yesterday were irresponsible, unethical, and frankly, idiotic.”

The delegation will be filing formal opposition with the PUC to the rate hike proposal. Join us by making your voice heard. Add your name to our petition saying “no” to outrageous rate hikes.
