Today is National Cancer Survivors Day, and it holds a special meaning for me.
Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 neck and throat cancer. There were days filled with uncertainty, difficult treatments, and challenges that tested me and my family in ways I never imagined. But through faith, the support of loved ones, incredible medical professionals, and a determination to keep fighting, I made it through.
Reaching this 10-year milestone is something I never take for granted. Cancer changes you. It teaches you to appreciate the small moments, value the people around you, and never assume tomorrow is guaranteed.
Today, I celebrate not only my own journey, but every survivor who continues to fight, every family member who stands beside a loved one, and every doctor, nurse, researcher, and caregiver who makes survival possible.
If you’re currently battling cancer, know that there is hope. Keep fighting. There are people rooting for you every step of the way.
I’m grateful for every day, every opportunity to serve my community, and every moment with my family and friends.
10 years cancer-free. God is good. My cancer’s colors are burgundy and white.
