April 29th-All four shift have been introduced to a new combustible gas atmosphere monitor (Sensit Industries HXG-2) that will be helpful on locating natural gas, propane, or other gas leaks during detection and location. All apparatus have received these units as a general hazard detection device and are now in service. The Bureau answers many utility needs requests, and this adds to our arsenal for safety. April 22 and 23- The driver operator class is back at it on city streets, however, this time concentrating on aerial apparatus placements and stabilization techniques. Since the Bureau utilizes ladders and platforms, it is necessary to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these units with our drivers. In this case utilizing our trucks for access in a few different settings. Thank you to senior firefighter Rick Brocius and Kyle Bertin for instructing these two days with a vast amount of real-life experience. Driver operators continue to prepare for future testing in June.
