BBQ in the Burg is TOMORROW!!!!

Showcasing pitmasters and back yard grill warriors a like. In addition to enjoying all you can sample bbq (till it runs out) there will also be music by DJ Music in Motion, a beer tent, inflatable's, snow cones, Sweet Squeeze Lemonade, a car show starting at 4pm, and a movie on the big screen at 8pm. Harrisburg Fire has obtained a grant from OSFM for $26,000 dollars. We are extremely thankful for this.

We are excited to announce the recipients of the FY-26 Small Equipment Grant. A total of $6 million was awarded to 260 fire departments/districts and EMS providers across the state.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Southern White County in southeastern Illinois...
Saline County in southern Illinois...
Southern Hamilton County in south central Illinois...
Southeastern Franklin County in south central Illinois...
Gallatin County in southern Illinois...

* Until 1100 PM CDT.

* At 1009 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 10 miles east of Rend Lake Area to Cedar Lake Area, moving east at 50 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Harrisburg, Eldorado, Mcleansboro, Norris City, Galatia, Ridgway, Equality, Thompsonville, Carrier Mills, New Haven, Raleigh, Hanaford, Stonefort, Omaha, Broughton, Junction, Muddy, and Macedonia.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 500 AM CDT for south central, southern and southeastern Illinois...and southwestern Indiana.

This is  categorized as a PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) tornado watch. Ensure you know your severe weather action plan. The basement of City Hall will be open starting at 4pm. Also remember storm sirens are an OUTDOOR warning system. Make sure you have other ways to receive severe weather notifications.
