From the desk of Joe Gale for Governor
For too long, working-class Pennsylvanians have been neglected by their government and this society. The 9-5 grind leaves many of us with little energy for much else. Responsibilities around the house begin to pile up. Stress makes sleep almost non-existent. Quality time with family is pushed to the side. Fortunate for many, the weekends are a time where we can wind down, forget about our jobs, catch up on chores, and spend time with our loved ones. This is why I am proposing No Senior Saturdays.
Many of us have experienced that “quick trip” to the grocery store, turn into an hour-long ordeal. Not because you decided to buy more groceries or stopped to have a chat with your neighbor. It is because the elderly have clogged up every food isle and check out line in the store. Why can’t they do their grocery shopping when we are all at work?
Imagine being able to walk through the grocery store at a reasonable pace. Or make it through the checkout line with time to spare. A day will come where a quick trip to the store is a reality. When I am Governor all stores, between the hours of 8AM – 7PM, will be reserved specifically for hardworking/tax paying Pennsylvanians. Seniors will be politely turned away from all retail business during this time. They have exclusive access to all places of business during the work week. Saturdays are for the working class. This is why I am advocating No Senior Saturdays.
Weekend are a great time to explore everything PA has to offer. The vast majority of us use our vehicles to drive from place to place. We have all experience that “driver” in the left lane of the highway driving well below the speed limit. Or driving 20mph under the posted speed limit on a country road. Nine time out of ten, these drivers are seniors. No Senior Saturday would keep the elderly off the road and out of our way. No longer will you question whether or not it would have been quicker to walk. The era of running late because of a slow driving senior is soon behind us. On Saturdays, senior’s only available method of transportation will be by public bus, train, taxi or Uber.
Our weekends are plagued by this geriatric disaster. When common courtesy isn’t enough to keep the elderly in, Joe Gale will. No Senior Saturday will provide us with unlimited potential. Should we see success with this program, we will look into Rush Hour isn’t for the Retired.
