This past weekend, Sgt. First Class Tanna Sullivan, with the 28th ID band, sang the National Anthem at the Tri-County All-Star high school football game that took place May 22, at Manheim Central High School. The annual game features top graduating seniors from the Lancaster-Lebanon League competing against top players from Berks and Lebanon counties.

The Multi-Functional Reconnaissance Company with the 56th Mobile Brigade Combat Team, 28th ID, conducted New Equipment Training at Fort Indiantown Gap, last week on May 14. Soldiers with the 56th MBCT worked alongside soldiers from the 278th Mobile Brigade Combat Team, Tennessee National Guard, during the five-day training where they learned how to operate and maintain the PDW C100 within a Garrison and field environment.
The Systems are being fielded to the newly established Multi-functional Recon Company Unmanned Aircraft System platoon to serve as their company level intelligence, surveillance, and recon (ISR) systems.

On May 17, 2026, the annual memorial service honoring the fallen Soldiers of the 28th Infantry Division was held at the 28th Infantry Division Shrine on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg.

The ceremony recognized the sacrifices of fallen service members and honored their Gold Star families. Veterans, currently serving military personnel, and members of the public gathered in remembrance and reflection throughout the day’s events. Visitors also had the opportunity to view several static displays of military equipment showcased on the museum grounds.

Soldiers with 2nd Battalion, 112th Infantry Regiment, 56th Mobile Brigade Combat Team conducted training April 24, 2026, at Fort Indiantown Gap. Selected Soldiers participated in training for the National Guard Reaction Force conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police.
These Soldiers learned how to assist police with riots, and other public disturbances. They also went on to conduct weapons training on the team live fire range and the live fire shoot house.

The Pennsylvania Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team (PA-HART) conducted training with Soldiers from the 628th Aviation Support Battalion, 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade at Memorial Lake State Park, April 28, 2026. The training involved PA-HART members lowered out of a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to simulated casualties in the water below.

28th ID Soldiers made history at the Lacerda Cup All-Army Combatives Championships, held recently at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Staff Sgt. Alexander Myers won the heavyweight division, and Spc. Sandy Chheng finished second in the bantamweight division.
Myers and Chheng are both members of the Combat Engineer Company - Infantry, 56th Mobile Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania National Guard.

“It was incredible to end my fighting career representing the Pennsylvania Guard, my unit and myself,” Myers said.
