The City of Harris is excited to announce that Amy Ackerman has taken over as our new City Clerk! She will be officially sworn in at the December 13 City Council meeting.

Please be patient as Amy learns the ropes of her new position. The City’s phone/text and email remain the same.

Please do NOT leave utility payments at the Ocheyedan City Office! The two towns no longer share a clerk.

Payments dropped off in Ocheyedan can not be guaranteed to be picked up and credited to the proper account by due dates.

The city Tree Dump has moved east of town next to the CFE Fertilizer location. You will still need a key in order to access the new dump site.

THE OLD DUMP HAS BEEN LOCKED AND IS NO LONGER OPEN FOR PUBLIC USE.

The City of Harris is currently accepting applications for the position of City Clerk.

The position requires accuracy, confidentiality, excellent verbal and written skills, a professional and courteous personality, accounting experience, computer proficiency with experience using MS Word and Excel and the ability to learn new software, self-motivation, organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, to work and problem solve independently, to work a flexible schedule thay includes night meetings, and to meet deadlines.

Other duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following: accurate record and minute keeping, accounts payable/receivable management, payroll, account reconciliations, utility billing, preparation of monthly reports for Council review, preparation of annual budget and various County, State, and Federal reports, managing internal loans and repayment schedules, and assisting with City Ordinance enforcement along with other duties as they arise.

This is currently a work-from-home position.
