🍎📚 The Ride to School Is More Than Just a Ride 🚗

Back-to-school season means busy mornings, packed schedules, and plenty of time in the car. For some parents, that 20–30 minute ride to school may be one of the few uninterrupted opportunities you have with your kids each day.

Use it.

Talk with them about alcohol, to***co, va**ng, and ma*****na. Ask what they’re seeing and hearing from friends or on social media. Make sure they understand the risks—and, just as importantly, make sure they know where you stand.

They may stare out the window. They may have their headphones on. You might even get an eye roll or two. But don’t mistake that for not listening.

Your kids hear you. Your expectations matter. Your conversations can make a difference.

You don’t need a perfect speech or a formal “sit-down.” Prevention can start with a simple conversation on the way to school.

This school year, make those minutes count. Keep talking. Keep listening. Keep the conversation going.

This week, the Delaware Division of Alcohol and To***co Enforcement (DATE) was proud to host FBI-LEEDA’s Executive Leadership Institute in Harrington.

The course brought law enforcement professionals together for advanced training focused on executive-level leadership, organizational culture, accountability, and effective decision-making. At the conclusion of the class, 24 students received the prestigious FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award, recognizing their completion of the Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute, and Executive Leadership Institute.

Among the recipients were three members of DATE: Corporal Sayers, Corporal Warner, and Corporal Burris. Congratulations to them and all of this week’s Trilogy Award recipients on this outstanding professional achievement! We also want to recognize Cpl. Wilkers, who, by completing this training, has taken his first step toward his Trilogy Award.

Continued leadership training is essential to developing capable, ethical, and forward-thinking law enforcement professionals. By investing in these opportunities, Delaware’s law enforcement agencies strengthen their leaders, their organizations, and ultimately the communities they serve.

DATE is honored to support professional development opportunities that advance leadership excellence throughout Delaware law enforcement.
