🚨 Community Notice 🚨

The Harrington Police Department would like to advise residents and motorists that officers will be participating in the Delaware Law Enforcement Torch Run this afternoon.

Motorists should expect temporary traffic delays in the area of Milford Harrington Highway and northbound U.S. Route 13 beginning at approximately 1100 hours.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we support this important cause benefiting Special Olympics Delaware.

Please use caution when traveling through the area and consider alternate routes if possible.

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, residents of City of Harrington are invited to showcase their creativity and community spirit by decorating their doorsteps with patriotic flair. This fun and festive competition encourages residents to honor our nation’s history while incorporating thoughtful design choices. ❤️🤍💙

Decorations should be visible from the street or sidewalk and may include porches, stoops, railings, steps or entryways. All decorations must be family-friendly and respectful.

Last evening at our City Council Meeting, the City of Harrington proudly hosted the swearing-in ceremony of Chief of Police Joseph Perna.

The evening was filled with recognition and appreciation for Chief Perna’s dedicated to public service. Vice Mayor Darrin Simpson presented a tribute on behalf of Mayor Frank Tolson and City Council, honoring Chief Perna’s commitment to the Harrington community.

Chief Perna was also presented with the Department Commendation Award by the Harrington Police Department. Additional recognitions included a proclamation from the Office of the Governor, read by Police Resource Manager Jenn Anderson; a tribute from the Delaware House of Representatives, presented by Lieutenant L.B. Stubbs; and a proclamation presented by Kent County Levy Court President Commissioner Joanne Masten and Vice President Commissioner Robert Scott.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Chief Joe Perna and wish him continued success as he leads the Harrington Police Department. Thank you to all who attended and helped make this special occasion a memorable one.
