✨ We are thrilled to announce that bestselling author and journalist Kate Andersen Brower will join us as a special guest speaker at the Military Women’s Memorial’s National Women Veterans Recognition Day Celebration on June 12!

As America commemorates its 250th anniversary, we are proud to celebrate the more than 250-year legacy of women’s service to our Nation, from the American Revolution to the military women serving today.

Kate Andersen Brower, coauthor with Nora O’Donnell of "We the Women: The Hidden Heroes Who Shaped America," has dedicated her work to uncovering and sharing the stories of extraordinary women whose contributions helped shape our country. Her passion for bringing overlooked stories to light makes her the perfect voice for this historic celebration.

Join us as we honor generations of women who answered the call to serve, unveil our new exhibit, "Women of Valor: 250 Years of Women Serving Our Nation," and celebrate the courage, sacrifice, leadership, and patriotism of the women who helped build, defend, and strengthen America.

Department of Maine 2026 Convention pictures. We enjoyed a positive and uplifting weekend with friends and members. We memorialized our VFW and Auxiliary members whom have passed away in the last year. We received awards and accolades on our program accomplishments and even enjoyed the comedy show on Friday night. We have installed the officers for the 2026-2027 year and are ready for the adventures and challenges.

"What a country we are," marveled Art Rose in a letter he wrote to his parents after the D-Day invasion in 1944. Now, 82 years later, Art is 107 years old, and he read his letter aloud at a D-Day commemoration ceremony in Normandy, France, today. Watch the Navy veteran read his letter to home, and see more on how D-Day was remembered by the likes of Sec. of War Hegseth and others, at the link in the first comment.
