The Division of Alternative to Domestic Violence is currently launching a recruitment drive to expand our team of dedicated Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) members.

Our goal is to ensure that trained advocates are available in every corner of Bergen County so that every victim receives compassionate, timely support—no matter where they live.

As a new school year begins, the Harrington Park Police Department reminds everyone to slow down, stay alert, and put safety first.

🚗 Drivers:
• The school zone speed limit is 25 MPH when flashing or posted.
• STOP for pedestrians in crosswalks.
• Watch carefully for children, school buses, and crossing guards.
• Avoid distractions—put the phone down and keep your eyes on the road.
• Please be patient and expect extra traffic around schools during arrival and dismissal.

🚶 Students & pedestrians:
• Use designated crosswalks and sidewalks.
• Look left, right, then left again before crossing.
• Follow the directions of crossing guards and traffic signals.

🐾 DOG OWNERSHIP REMINDER 🐾

The Harrington Park Police Department reminds residents that dogs off private property must be kept on a leash, especially when visiting any Borough park, field, or other public area.

Dog owners are also reminded of their responsibility to clean up after their pets. Under Harrington Park Borough Ordinance 105-12 B (5), owners must remove dog waste from:

• Common thoroughfares
• Sidewalks and passageways
• Play areas and parks
• Places where people congregate or walk
• Private property without the owner’s permission

Please be a responsible pet owner and help keep our parks, fields, sidewalks, and neighborhoods clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

🚨 OVERNIGHT STREET PARKING ORDINANCE UPDATE

The Borough of Harrington Park has updated Ordinance §331-11 – Overnight Street Parking. Residents are reminded that overnight street parking between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM is prohibited unless permission is obtained through the Harrington Park Police Department.

📌 KEY UPDATES

• 1–2 vehicles / up to 3 nights:
Requests may be made by calling the HPPD non-emergency number at 201-768-2100 for up to 3 consecutive nights OR 3 nights in a calendar month.

• Maximum of 2 vehicles:
No more than 2 vehicles per residential lot may be parked on the street overnight. Exceptions may be considered case-by-case and must be requested both telephonically and in writing through the Police Department.

• 4 or more nights:
Requests require completion of the Overnight Parking Waiver form available on the Police Department website.
– No more than 2 vehicles may be approved under the waiver.
– The completed form must be submitted in person at the Police Department.
– Waivers must be renewed every 14 days when overnight parking is needed beyond 14 days.

• Long-term parking of more than 2 vehicles:
Residents requiring more than two vehicles to be parked on the roadway overnight on a long-term basis must make arrangements for other legal parking.

• Where vehicles may be parked:
Vehicles must be parked in close proximity to the residence for which permission was issued — directly in front of or across the street from the residence.

• ❄️ Snow emergencies:
Overnight parking will not be permitted during any snow emergency and/or during snow cleanup.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for National Night Out 2026 and helped make it such a tremendous success.

A special thank you to all of our participating agencies, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and community partners, including Hackensack Meridian Health AirMed One for the helicopter landing. Your support helped make this event unforgettable.

This year’s attendance exceeded our expectations, and because of that, we’re already planning to expand National Night Out even further next year with more games, more rides, and additional family-friendly attractions to make the event even bigger and better.

We are proud to serve such an amazing community and look forward to seeing everyone again next year! Together, we are building a safer, stronger, and more connected community.
