There are days when serving a community asks a lot of you. There are days when motherhood asks even more. And there are women among us who quietly carry the weight of both.

But today is also about something bigger.

It is about what it means to be a woman who chooses to serve.

To the women who serve the City of Harriman: we hope you know that we see more than the job you do.

We see the woman behind the uniform. The woman who walks into a demanding profession and proves, day after day, that strength, courage, compassion and leadership belong there.

For some of our women, there is another role waiting when the workday ends: Mom.

We see the days when your mind is in two places at once — because while you are here taking care of Harriman, a piece of your heart is always somewhere else taking care of home.

And we know there are sacrifices no one sees.

Sometimes your children have to share their mama with an entire city. Sometimes your family gets the tired version of you because you gave so much of yourself to everyone else that day. And somehow, the next morning, you get up and do it all over again.

There is a special kind of strength in that.

For others, your story looks different, but your strength and your service are no less meaningful. You are showing the next generation of young women that there is a place for them here, too.

Today, we celebrate every woman who chooses to serve.

We see you. We value you. And Harriman is better because of you.

And, of course, we couldn’t celebrate the ladies of law enforcement without recognizing one very important girl — Izzy. 🐾 She may have four legs, work for treats, and have absolutely no interest in paperwork, but she proudly holds her own among the women of HPD. 💙

🇺🇸 Where were you on September 11, 2001?

For many Americans, that question brings back a moment we will never forget.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001—a day that changed our nation forever.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the families who said goodbye without knowing it would be the last time.

We also remember September 12: the flags, the helping hands, the prayers, and a nation standing together.

As a new generation grows up without memories of that day, we must continue to share the stories of those we lost, the heroes who served, and the unity that followed.

Where were you on September 11, 2001? What do you remember most?

For those who remember, may we never forget. For those who were not yet here, may we never stop teaching them.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
