Our members would like to extend our sincere gratitude for all that supported this year's canvas letter. This year's focus is to provide training and personal protective equipment for our newly formed Battalion 1 Rescue Task Force that includes members from Windsor, West Windsor, Deposit, and Harpursville. This team is working collaboratively with the Broome County Sheriff's Office to assist them during large-scale incidents involving acts of violence. This team under direction of law enforcement personnel will assist with the retrieval and removal of patients during these incidents. While we hope that it is a team that never gets utilized, we are preparing just the same.

Today, our members responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a truck pulling a trailer that struck and damaged a NYSEG utility pole.

Upon arrival, crews secured the scene, assisted with traffic control, and remained on location throughout the vehicle recovery operation. Firefighters continued to stand by until utility crews from NYSEG arrived and made the area safe.

As a reminder, if you encounter downed power lines, always assume they are energized and stay a safe distance away. Report the hazard immediately and avoid the area until it has been secured. 🚒🚨

🚒 Motor Vehicle Accident Response – State Route 79 🚒

Today, members of the Harpursville Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle accident on State Route 79 involving minor entrapment.

Our crews worked alongside emergency responders to safely remove the driver from the vehicle. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by Colesville Ambulance for evaluation and treatment.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Hendrickson's Auto Repair for their assistance on scene.

This Sunday morning, the Harpursville Fire Department was proud to host a Broome County Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) class. This valuable training was sponsored by the Broome County Fire Chiefs Association and the Broome County Fire Coordinators Office.

The class brought together firefighters from across the county to sharpen the skills and techniques needed to assist firefighters in distress during emergency operations. Continuous training like this helps ensure that our members are prepared to protect not only the public but also each other when seconds matter most.
