So here we are! June 4, 2025. 13 years ago this very day, is the day that changed the course of so many lives. It’s the day that it was discovered that Aliza had a brain tumor. I can still see the look on the doctor’s face, when she walked in to the room with the scan results.
Most of you know the story, as the next eight months were a blur of setbacks , including massive seizures and watching her go blind. We spent every moment with her, during that time, never leaving her side.
That was only made possible by friends, family, and even strangers, who were so inspired by her positive spirit.
Her positive spirit was only possible because she trusted Jesus!
She showed us what faith looks like and after she left for Heaven, we knew we had to carry on in unimaginable ways.
One of those ways, was to carry her loving energy in to starting The Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation. Over the last 12 years, with the continued love and support of so many, we have supported well over 100 Maine Families, that faced a cancer fight with their child.
Our goal was not only to help these families financially , but to spread the light that is only made possible by Christ’s love. Though we aren’t officially a Christian based foundation, one thing has been clear from the beginning; HE is in every thing that we do. HE has carried us through the most difficult of storms, and through those challenges, HE has been faithful. We are stronger than we’ve ever been, and our faith is unwavering.
Karen and I have made the very difficult decision to end The Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation. After the loss of her parents to cancer, over the last five years, we are tired! We have spent a big part of the last many years fighting along side the ones that we love and feel it’s time to catch our breath. As many of you know, cancer is a monster! Running a cancer foundation takes so much energy and we are ready to move to the next chapter of our journey. God has blessed us with so many loving people, who literally carried our family through the most raging storm. We will continue to serve Him and look forward to trusting his plan for us, as we move forward, in to the new unknown. The one thing we know, is that His light always shines brightly, especially in the darkness. We are forever grateful for all that you’ve done to support our family and all the families we helped through the work of the foundation. Aliza lives on in our hearts and as her parents, we know that our reunion with her is just up ahead ☀️
