Today, we celebrate two significant milestones for the Lower Salford Township Police Department.

First, we congratulate Chief Medwid on his retirement after 27 years of dedicated service. Chief Medwid’s career began in Springfield Township where he served as a Patrol Officer from 1981 to1985. From 1985 to 1999, Chief Medwid served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, and Patrol Sergeant for Whitpain Township until he was hired as the Chief of Lower Salford Township in 1999.

Throughout his career, Chief Medwid exemplified professionalism, commitment, and leadership, leaving a lasting impact on our department and the community he proudly served. We thank him for his years of service and wish him health, happiness, and many wonderful adventures in retirement.

We are also proud to congratulate our new Chief of Police, Cory Moyer. Chief Moyer has been a valued member of the Lower Salford Township Police Department since 1996. His dedication and leadership have been evident throughout his career, earning promotions to Corporal in 2001, Sergeant in 2011, Deputy Chief in 2025, and now as the 4th Chief of Police for Lower Salford Township.

Please join us in thanking Chief Medwid for his outstanding service and congratulating Chief Moyer on this well-deserved achievement. We look forward to the continued leadership and commitment Chief Moyer will bring to the department and our community.

Congratulations to both Chief Medwid and Chief Moyer on their remarkable accomplishments!

We wish Chief Medwid the very best in retirement and Chief Moyer continued success in his new role as Chief of Police.

On Monday, June 1st at 2:00 PM, and again on Tuesday, June 2nd at various intervals throughout the day, Constellation will conduct its semi-annual, full-volume test of the emergency warning sirens surrounding Limerick Clean Energy Center (formerly known as "Limerick Generating Station"). This is one of two semi-annual tests performed each year. There is no emergency or cause for concern.

The warning siren system consists of sirens located in the 10-mile radius around Limerick Clean Energy Center in Montgomery, Chester, and Berks Counties. In a real event, the sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but a warning to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station.
