The foundation of a successful life – access to food and healthcare – is at risk for families, seniors, and veterans across Pennsylvania. Despite this, harmful cuts to SNAP and Medicaid that will reduce access to food assistance and healthcare for millions of Americans have passed in Congress today.
Rural communities and children will be most impacted. In Pennsylvania alone:
🍽️ Approximately 144,000 Pennsylvanians will lose SNAP benefits
🍎 Nearly 50,000 farm families and 10,000 grocers and food retailers will be impacted by lost economic activity
🩺 Approximately 310,000 Pennsylvanians will lose Medicaid coverage
Feeding PA, standing alongside neighbors facing hunger, understands the importance of working with lawmakers to invest in additional federal agricultural anti-hunger initiatives. While our efforts to strengthen support for food-insecure individuals continue in every congressional district, our network of food banks will persist in their vital service.
Feeding PA thanks members of Pennsylvania’s delegation who voted no: Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, Congressman Brendan Boyle, Rep. Dwight Evans, Rep. Madeleine Dean, U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan, Rep. Summer Lee, U.S. Senator John Fetterman, and Representatives Scanlon and Deluzio.
