📚🎒 COMMUNITY PARTNERS NEEDED! 🎒📚

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia is bringing together schools, churches, businesses, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and community organizations for a county-wide Back-to-School Bash serving Harlan County families.

1 Positive Place, Harlan, KY

We're looking for community partners who would like to:
✅ Host an informational booth
✅ Share resources and services
✅ Provide activities or demonstrations
✅ Distribute school supplies
✅ Offer giveaways
✅ Connect with local families

Our goal is simple: create one centralized event where families can access school supplies, educational resources, health information, community services, and youth opportunities before the new school year begins.

Today we are celebrating Amanda Hall 1 Year here being with us as our fantastic Kitchen Manager of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia! Amanda has such a strong passion and dedication for her work. We thank her for her leadership, kindness, and always being there for our children. We are so incredibly thankful to have such an awesome Kitchen Manager!!💙

Safety Month may be coming to an end, but our commitment to safety never stops at Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia.

Throughout the month, we have shared important safety reminders, highlighted the staff who help make our Clubs safe spaces, and provided resources for families and youth. Creating environments where every child feels safe, supported, and cared for is something we focus on every single day.

Each month, we send out Club SAFE updates to continue sharing safety tips, resources, policies, and important information with our families and community. Together, we can help ensure our Clubs remain positive, welcoming, and secure places for all youth.

Throughout this month, Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia has been proud to highlight what safety means across our Clubs and the many ways we work every day to create safe, supportive environments for youth.

This month, we shared:
✔️ What safety means at our Clubs
✔️ The importance of online safety and healthy boundaries
✔️ Emergency preparedness procedures and staff training
✔️ Transportation and pickup safety practices
✔️ Ways members can report concerns or ask for help
✔️ The dedicated staff members who help make our Clubs safe spaces every day

At BGCApp, safety means making sure every child feels welcomed, supported, cared for, and heard. It means creating spaces where youth can be themselves, build positive relationships, and know there is always someone in their corner.

Transportation & Pickup Safety

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia, safety does not stop when the Club day ends. Our transportation and pickup procedures help make sure every member gets home safely.

To help keep our youth safe, we use:
✔️ Sign-out procedures for members
✔️ Authorized pickup lists to ensure children leave with approved adults
✔️ Staff supervision during pickup and transportation times

These safety measures help provide peace of mind for families and create a safe, organized environment for all members.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Appalachia, we want every child to know that their feelings, comfort, and personal space matter.

It’s important for kids to remember:
✔️ It’s okay to say “no”
✔️ Your body belongs to you
✔️ Tell a trusted adult if something makes you uncomfortable

Learning healthy boundaries helps children feel confident, respected, and safe. We are proud to create Club environments where youth are heard, supported, and empowered every day.

Five members of our Black Bear Boys & Girls Club graduated this Sunday from Harlan County High School. We are so proud of them!
