Update: Hardy City Hall will have a delayed opening time of 10:30 a.m. on 1/28/2026 and will close at the normal time of 4:00 p.m. Normal hours of operation should resume 1/29/2026, depending on freezing temperature conditions and roadways.

Hardy City Hall will be closed Monday 1/26 and Tuesday 1/27 due to the inclement weather conditions. Offices will remain closed until the weather conditions improve locally for public safety. If you have a water or a sewer emergency, phone 870-710-3811 for immediate assistance. If you have a fire or police emergency, always dial 911. If you have a fire or police non-emergency, phone Sharp County Dispatch at 870-994-2211.

The Hardy Gym will be available as a warming station on School Street if there is a need to seek warmer conditions. This is not a shelter, however it is an option to keep warm opposed to the brutal outside conditions. The Hardy Gym will be monitored by the Hardy Police Department hourly. Stay safe, and don't get out unless you absolutely have to!

Thank you to our Public Works Team who is working to improve road conditions and continue providing water and sewer services to our residents. Don’t forget to drip your faucets!

🚨 Hard Freeze This Weekend – Protect Your Pipes 🚨
Hardy is facing a hard freeze this weekend, with temperatures dropping to around 7° Friday night, 10° Saturday night, and 2° Sunday night and staying below freezing for several days. This is the kind of weather that causes burst pipes, water damage, and emergency calls if homes aren’t prepared.
Take these steps now to help prevent frozen pipes:
1️⃣ Protect outside faucets
Disconnect all hoses
Install insulated faucet covers
For extra protection, wrap the faucet with towels or rags and secure with tape or zip ties (especially on north-facing walls)
2️⃣ Insulate exposed pipes
Wrap pipes in garages, crawl spaces, and exterior walls
Use pipe insulation, towels, or foam sleeves
Seal gaps where pipes enter the home
3️⃣ Let faucets drip
A slow, steady drip keeps water moving and helps prevent freezing
Focus on faucets furthest from the main water line
4️⃣ Open cabinet doors
Open cabinets under sinks to allow warm air to circulate around plumbing
5️⃣ Know where your main water shutoff is
If a pipe bursts, shutting off water quickly can limit damage
⚠️ Frozen pipes often burst when they thaw, causing flooding hours later—sometimes overnight. Taking these steps now can save costly repairs.
If you notice no water flow, unusual sounds, or signs of a leak, act fast.
Stay safe, stay warm, and prepare before temperatures drop.
If you have a water emergency in Hardy, call the emergency Hardy Water Works phone at 870-710-3811.
