On June 11, 2026, the 57th Circuit Court for Emmet County filed its decision, and opinion, dismissing the civil lawsuit for alleged monetary damages in a Breach of Contract lawsuit filed by Geodetic North Investors, LLC., and Steve Hayward back in January of 2025 and arising from the failed Cambria Hotel Project.
On Monday, May 11, 2026, lawyers for the Little Traverse Bay of Odawa Indians had argued at a motion hearing to dismiss the entire matter by invoking LTBBโs inherent right of Sovereign Immunity from suit where that right had been contractually reserved and not waived.
This milestone means the continuing economic development of the former Victories Casino site, near Lears Road and U.S. 131 in Petoskey, Michigan, can continue unfettered by the claims of the former development manager. The latest of the businesses to occupy the strip mall portion of Victories Square is the fast-casual submarine sandwich chain โJersey Mikeโs Subs,โ and then later this fall, the Odawa Economic Development Management, Inc. will break ground on the second LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) workforce housing development at this site.
