𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝟓𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐭

On June 11, 2026, the 57th Circuit Court for Emmet County filed its decision, and opinion, dismissing the civil lawsuit for alleged monetary damages in a Breach of Contract lawsuit filed by Geodetic North Investors, LLC., and Steve Hayward back in January of 2025 and arising from the failed Cambria Hotel Project.

On Monday, May 11, 2026, lawyers for the Little Traverse Bay of Odawa Indians had argued at a motion hearing to dismiss the entire matter by invoking LTBB’s inherent right of Sovereign Immunity from suit where that right had been contractually reserved and not waived.

This milestone means the continuing economic development of the former Victories Casino site, near Lears Road and U.S. 131 in Petoskey, Michigan, can continue unfettered by the claims of the former development manager. The latest of the businesses to occupy the strip mall portion of Victories Square is the fast-casual submarine sandwich chain “Jersey Mike’s Subs,” and then later this fall, the Odawa Economic Development Management, Inc. will break ground on the second LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) workforce housing development at this site.

We would like to share a quick update regarding our Cultural Library. We are excited to announce that we have new additions available in our collection and look forward to welcoming you to explore them!

In addition, we will be offering complimentary messenger bags featuring the library’s logo to the first 34 LTBB Tribal Citizens who visit the library and check out a book, DVD, or CD. Please note that this is a first – come, first – served opportunity, limited to one bag per person, while supplies last. Individuals must be present and check out an item under their name to be eligible. Participants will also have the opportunity to choose one of the following incentives: a department T-shirt, a 5th generation Kindle e - reader, or a gift card from a selection of participating companies.

Phase 3 (Paving) is now rescheduled to begin Monday, June 22nd, 2026. FYI, this phase will take one to two days. During paving there will be single lane closures around the Odawa Circle with access to all parking lots and buildings. Road project flaggers will be directing traffic.
Please be patient and courteous to the workers.
