🚒🔴 Blue Ridge Fire Department is Lighting the Night for Fallen Firefighters! 🔥

Happy Jack community,

This week, from April 26 - May 3, 2026, Blue Ridge Fire Department will proudly participate in the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s “Light the Night” event to honor America’s fallen fire heroes.

We’ll be lighting up red at our station and throughout the community to show our respect and remembrance.

We warmly invite you and your families to join us! Light up your home, business, or landmark in red during this week. Take a photo of your red lights and share it on social media with your personal “why” — why you honor our fallen firefighters.
Together, we can help make this a powerful tribute across Arizona and the entire nation.

Please join us for a community breakfast featuring fresh pancakes and coffee — with our own firefighters flipping flapjacks!

This plan is critical for strengthening wildfire protection, preparedness, and mitigation efforts right here in Happy Jack and across Coconino County. Your voice matters — we strongly encourage every resident to review the draft and share your feedback to help keep our community safer.

🚨 Free Home Ignition Zone Course – Blue Ridge Fire District! 🔥🏡
Protect your home and property from wildfire! The Blue Ridge Fire District, in partnership with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management is hosting a one-day Home Ignition Zone training designed specifically for community members and fire professionals.

What you’ll learn:
* Fundamentals of wildland fire behavior and ignition sources
* The 3 Home Ignition Zones and how to create defensible space
* Practical wildfire risk reduction actions for your property
* Real case studies from Wildland-Urban Interface fires
* NFPA Firewise® and Firewise USA™ programs

The course includes classroom presentations plus hands-on field practice with property site visits. Dress for the weather (pants and closed-toe shoes required for the walk-throughs). Full attendance is required to receive your Certificate of Completion.

🚨 Communications Upgrade Update – Blue Ridge Fire District! 🚨
Great news for our community and first responders! We’re making big strides in improving radio communications to ensure faster, more reliable response times across our district.
The new communications tower at our fire station is nearly complete — it’s almost installed and will soon be fully operational. This is a key step toward better coverage right here at home base.
We’re also hard at work on additional improvements at the new Baker Butte location. This strategic repeater site will dramatically expand radio coverage, especially in challenging areas south of the Rim and along Highway 87 — where reliable direct communications have been limited.
These upgrades mean stronger connections for our crews, mutual aid partners, and ambulance transports. Safer firefighters = safer community!
Thank you to our dedicated team, partners, and everyone who supports these critical infrastructure projects. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring everything online.

Outstanding Training Thanks to Midstate Fire Training! 🚒
A huge THANK YOU to Midstate Fire Training for traveling up to Happy Jack and providing our Blue Ridge Fire District firefighters with top-notch vehicle extrication training!
The session was incredibly valuable. We got real-world, hands-on practice cutting up three vehicles, working with modern hydraulic tools, stabilization techniques, patient access, and scene management. These skills are essential for handling motor vehicle incidents safely and efficiently in our rural mountain community.
Your expertise, high-quality equipment, and focus on rural department needs truly help us stay sharp and better protect our residents. We appreciate you coming to us and investing in Arizona’s first responders!

🌟 Grateful for Our Community Heroes - Thank You, The 100 Club of Arizona! 🌟
The Blue Ridge Fire District is thrilled and deeply thankful to share that we recently received a $7,000 Safety Enhancement Stipend from The 100 Club of Arizona!
This generous grant allowed us to purchase essential traffic safety gear to better protect our firefighters, first responders, and the public during emergency scenes:
• Traffic cones for scene safety and traffic control
• Reflective signs to alert and guide drivers
• High-visibility safety vests for our team members
These items enhance visibility and safety on roadways, incident scenes, and during responses in our rural Happy Jack area-helping us serve you even more effectively.
Your support through The 100 Club makes a tangible difference in keeping our firefighters safe so they can keep our community safe. We are truly honored and appreciate this partnership in protecting Arizona’s first responders and their families.
