Search Warrant Executed in Hanson; Charges Sought in Narcotics Investigation

On Monday, July 27, 2026, members of the Hanson Police Department, with assistance from the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit, executed three court-authorized search warrants at 472A Indian Head Street following a months-long investigation into the alleged distribution of fentanyl, co***ne, crack co***ne, and methamphetamine.

During the ex*****on of the search warrants, investigators recovered evidence consistent with the storage and distribution of controlled substances, including suspected methamphetamine, suspected L*D, suspected fentanyl, drug packaging materials, and three rifles/shotguns along with a quantity of ammunition.

The primary target of the investigation, Nicholas J. Litchfield, was not located during the ex*****on of the warrants. As a result, an arrest warrant was issued for him. Based on the evidence recovered during the investigation, the Hanson Police Department has sought the following criminal charges:

• Trafficking in Methamphetamine
• Three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Rifle or Shotgun (Subsequent Offense)
• Possession of Ammunition
• Possession of a Class C Substance

Hanson Police investigators subsequently tracked Litchfield to a location in Rockland, where he had attempted to evade arrest. With the assistance of the Rockland Police Department, Litchfield was taken into custody and appeared at Plymouth District Court for arraignment. Additional charges will be sought pending laboratory testing and identification of the suspected narcotics recovered during the search warrant

"This investigation reflects our continued commitment to addressing illegal drug activity in Hanson," said Chief Michael Casey. "Investigations like this involve extensive planning, surveillance, and countless hours of work by our officers. Detective Maliff, Sergeant Shaughnessy, Officer Rodday, and Officer Malloy did outstanding work, and through their perseverance and dedication they are helping keep Hanson a safe and drug-free community."

The Hanson Police Department would also like to recognize the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department for their assistance during this high-risk search warrant operation and for providing their highly trained K-9 teams. We extend our appreciation to Lieutenant Sawler, Lieutenant Johnson, and Deputy Simon for their professionalism and support.

As always, all criminal charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
