Southwestern Jefferson County Schools We are a small school corporation with about 1150 students located in Hanover, Indiana.

Southwestern Jefferson County Consolidated School Corporation (Southwestern) is located in Hanover, Indiana, population approximately 3,600 and serves a district-wide population of approximately 9,400 people including Hanover College. The corporation began as a consolidated school district in 1959, including Hanover, Republican, Saluda, and Smyrna townships. Our community is primarily residential

and agricultural with some small businesses. We are located five miles west of Madison, Indiana, and our school corporation boundaries include Hanover College. School buses run approximately 698 miles per day for contract routes, 137 miles per day for town routes, 41 miles per day for special education routes and 62 miles per day for a vocational route.

The Library will be closed on Saturday, December 6, 2025. The Madison Auditorium will remain open for the Friends of the Library Holiday Book Sale. Plus, catch us marching in A Very Merry Madison Parade!

Evergreen Indiana servers are being upgraded from Saturday, December 6 through Sunday, December 7. During the Evergreen Indiana upgrade, hoopla will still be available. Users who have previously signed in through the Overdrive site or Libby app can continue to access their accounts.

🏊 Pool Status Update: Back to Normal Operations! 🎉

Great news, everyone!

We are happy to announce that the pool's water chemistry has returned to acceptable and balanced levels! Our maintenance team worked diligently to ensure everything is perfect for safe swimming.

Normal operations will resume immediately.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we addressed the water balance.

Big thanks for supporting our concession stand last night. We sold almost 70 pounds of pulled pork (Chat House Catering) and almost 9 gallons of sweet tea (Hanover McDonalds)!! Your hungry bellies helped fund great things coming to Southwestern Middle School !

We will operate on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, 12/3, due to weather conditions. Please use caution when traveling. Buses and school start times will run exactly two hours later than normal. There will be no SCC classes and no morning Ivy Tech classes for our high school students.

🛑 POOL CLOSURE UPDATE
(Tuesday, December 2, 3:00 PM)

Attention Swimmers:

We regret to inform you that the pool will remain closed through the end of today, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, and into tomorrow morning.

While we have made significant progress in reducing the chlorine levels, they have not yet stabilized within the acceptable safety range required for reopening. Our team is continuing to monitor the chemical balance throughout the evening.

The pool will remain closed until at least 12:00 PM (Noon) tomorrow, Wednesday, December 3.

We will post our next update regarding the reopening status by 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 3. Thank you for your continued understanding as safety remains our top priority.

Our latest water quality tests are still showing elevated chlorine levels, making the pool unsafe for swimming at this time. The safety of our residents is our highest priority, and we cannot open the facility until the levels are within the safe operational range.
Our maintenance team is working diligently to balance the water chemistry.
The next update will be posted here at 3:00 PM.
