Hanover Fire would like to extend an unmeasurable thank you to all who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in our Armed Forces. Words cannot express the gratitude that we have for laying down your life to defend our freedom.

Our thoughts are with the family of Robert Kilduff Jr., the members of the Boston Fire Department, and the members of Rescue 2. Take time this Memorial Day weekend to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice while putting others first. Rest easy, BK.

As we recognize EMS Week, the Hanover Fire Department is proud to announce that we have once again been recognized by the American Heart Association with the Mission: Lifeline® Gold EMS Award for the second consecutive year.
In addition to the Gold Award, Hanover Fire was also recognized this year with both the Stroke Honor Roll and Heart Attack Honor Roll distinctions for our continued commitment to providing rapid, evidence-based emergency cardiac and stroke care to our community.
The American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Awards recognize EMS agencies across the country that demonstrate excellence in the timely identification, treatment, and transport of patients experiencing heart attacks and strokes. These awards reflect a strong commitment to following the latest clinical guidelines and close coordination between EMS providers and hospitals to improve patient outcomes and save lives.
These recognitions are a direct reflection of the dedication, professionalism, training, and compassion demonstrated every day by the members of the Hanover Fire Department. Our paramedics and EMTs work around the clock to provide high-quality emergency medical care to our residents and visitors, often during someone’s most difficult moments. Their commitment to continuing education, teamwork, and patient-centered care makes achievements like this possible.
During EMS Week, we especially want to thank all of our EMS providers for the incredible work they do each and every day. We are fortunate to have such skilled and dedicated professionals serving the Hanover community.

This is Daisy…She likes being part of the family, chewing on socks, and chasing after squirrels in the backyard.

She doesn’t like cats, getting sprayed by skunks, and getting left inside of hot vehicles.

You wouldn’t wear a fur coat inside a sauna, so why would you expect your dog to? With temperatures again in the 90’s today, your vehicle’s interior can easily reach the 130’s. It is better to leave them home in the AC than inside your car. They will be happier, and healthier, when you get home!

Do the right thing… Do it for Daisy…

Hanover Firefighters have worked 15 calls for service since the start of shift, including multiple heat-related emergencies. Off-duty firefighters have been called back to work 7 times so far today to supplement the on-duty crew.

With another hot day forecasted for tomorrow, remember to hydrate, avoid prolonged outdoor time if possible, seek out air conditioning, take frequent breaks, and hydrate some more!

Off duty Hanover Firefighters spent time this morning doing a spring clean up at the Hanover Firefighter grave site. Each spring, firefighters work to clean up the headstones, w**d and mulch the memorial, and plant some new flowers. The former members interred here are honored all throughout the year, but especially at the upcoming Memorial Day Parade and Firefighter Sunday ceremony.

We would also like to say a big thank you to the Town of Hanover, MA DPW for assisting us with maintaining the site throughout the year!

Earlier today, Hanover Firefighters worked a chimney fire on Circuit Street. Car 3, Engine 1, Engine 7, Tower 1 and Ambulance 1 responded to find an active chimney fire. Crews, consisting of on and off duty members were on scene for just under an hour extinguishing, and no injuries were reported.

While on scene, Car 1 and Engine 7 were diverted to a simultaneous call for a fire alarm.

As a reminder, have your chimney inspected and cleaned at least annually or every 1-2 cords burned, whichever comes first. Use seasoned hardwood only to help reduce creosote buildup.

The Hanover Fire Department is pleased to share that we’ve been awarded $6,526 through the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services SAFE and Senior SAFE Grant Program.

These funds allow us to deliver vital fire and life safety education to students and older adults throughout our community. This grant is the only funding source that supports this programming, as there are no dedicated funds for it within our operating budget.

Thank you to our Fire & Life Safety Education Coordinator, Firefighter/Paramedic Eric Johnson, for his work in securing and managing this grant.
